Beautify your eyes with the new Balenciaga 0051

Spanish designer Cristobal Balenciaga opened his first boutique in Spain in 1914 and with the Spanish aristocracy wearing his designs, it was clear from the start he was destined for great things. Signature pieces such as his ‘square coat’, tunic dresses, balloon skirts and high-waisted dresses all cemented this throne in fashion which Balenciaga successfully made for himself.

The history on Balenciaga is more than enough to set the scene for the standard of Balenciaga. The upmost class, opulence and highest quality of materials and unique design.

 

I am personally much more of a fan of these delicate thin frames than the thick acetate ones which are also very popular. Keeping to the most up to date trends in fashion, Balenciaga pays homage to the large oversized lenses. This is an instant attractive feature about the sunglasses which have drawn my attention in immediately.

Encompassing these oversized beauties are the thinly wired frames which have a double track round the corners. Not only does the delicate wire enhance the femininity of these frames but the doubled over corners give another dimension and creates different areas which grab tour attention. The holes created in between the wires play with the light and shade through them. With the nose bridge and corners in the colour of the lenses gives a different dimension and textures to the colour and style.

The nose bridge also utilises these gaps in the wires to pull together the design theme and continue that through the whole frame. But the most elegant piece of all has to be the stems. A lot of the time designers forget about the stems, concentrating too much on the lens and frame design, but as Balenciaga has proven here, this is a key area where attention to detail has prevailed and really helped make these sunglasses go from great to outstanding. So lets take a closer look. The wires are intertwined round each other and come together at a tweaked point. I love the way the wires rush over each other in waves, enhancing the curved smooth and romantic feeling of the 0051’s.

Lets talk colour. The 0051’s are available in either a Pinky Brown 010 ZL or Blue 010 4R gradient lens. Both giving an ultra feminine look, the frames are absolutely stunning and a fine addition to any lady’s wardrobe.
