Chloe
Founded by Egyptian-born designer Gaby Aghion in Paris, Chloe was a revelatory brand that introduced the fashion world to the concept of off the rack, high quality, soft, body conscious clothes from fine fabrics, which she called 'luxury prêt-à-porter'(ready to wear). In 1966, Chloe was headed up by the then young designer, Karl Lagerfield who’s designs for the brand transported it into one of the most sympbolic brands of the 1970s and to date, Chloe still holds onto its iconic style that was created within this era.
Throughout the 80s, Chloe was headed up by numerous designers that would later become iconic within their own right and create their own self named brands. Karl Lagerfield returned to Chloe, bringing it into the 90s with a harder edge to how we currently know it. Fresh out of Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, hot young designer Stella McCartney took the reins and with her clean lines and minimalistic approach the brand was back on the map. The millennium brought along designer Phoebe Philo whos soft and laid back creations welcomed a whole host of celebrity fans that included Kirsten Dunst, Natalie Portman, Kate Moss and French beauty, Lou Doillon. Responsible for the era of the ‘it-bag’ with the Chloe ‘Paddington’ bag becoming an iconic fashion accessory of the early millennium.
With the re-launch of the Chloe perfume, Hannah MacGibbon was appointed the new artistic director. She cited the fashion illustrations of Antonio Lopez as an inspiration. American actress, former model and fashion designer Chloe Sevigny becomes a spokesperson for the company.
A mixture of vintage framework with a 70s vibe is typical of Chloe. Cute detailing such as embossed stars keep Chloe.
