History

In 1987, two surfers decided enough was enough as they grew sick and tired of continuously loosing their watches in the water whilst surfing. Their watch straps just couldn't withstand the pressure of the extreme conditions. So they came up with a solution, a watch strap made from a combination of velcro and webbing that put a stop to their annoying problem.

The pair decided to set up production in a back bedroom situated in one of their mother's house's, it was there they began to create small quantities of their inventions which were sold to their fellow surfing buddies. The money raised from sales was put toward surf trips to Australia and Hawaii where the duo continued to sell even more straps.

The simple design and rugged design of the strap meant they could cross it over into other sports such as windsurfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and mountain biking. A functional performance product that originated Animal's success.

Soon enough, the brand began to manufacture sports watches targeted at free sport enthusiasts, they were water resistant and looked fantastic on the wrist! Watches that have now become a household name.

Now one of the UK's fastest growing sports brands, Animal produces sunglasses, accessories, clothing and flip flops.
