Burberry
History
Known for it's trade mark plaid Burberry has
over a hundred year history...
In 1856, 21 year old Thomas Burberry opened a small outfitters shop in
England's Hampshire, and his commitment to quality and innovation fabric
and outwear design earned him a loyal following.
In 1870 his shop had grown into an emporium,
ten years later and he introduced
Gabardine, a breathable, weatherproof and tear proof fabric. Then in
1891 the store began trading as Burberry and Sons, opening another store
in the West End of London at 30 Haymarket.
Four years later Thomas Burberry developed the Tielocken the predecessor
of the trench coat which was adopted by British officers during the
Boer War.
1901 was the birth of the Equestrian Knight trademark,
incorporated with the words 'Prorsum' meaning forwards. Then in 1911 Burberry equipped
Norwegian explorer Captain Roald Amundsen, the first man to reach the
South Pole, another of the brands historic claims to fame.

A few years later Burberry was commissioned by the war office to adapt
it's earlier officers coat for new combat requirements, so Burberry added
epaulettes and 'D'rings and the trench coat was born.
The 1920s saw Burberry release its second trademark, the registered
Burberry Check, which lined the brands 1920s trench coat. And in 1955,
Burberry's innovation was recognised and rewarded with a Royal Warrant by her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Burberry also went on to receive a Royal Warrant by HRH The Prince of Wales,
and in 2006 celebrated its milestone 150th anniversary!
Burberry Sunglasses
Burberry eyewear has undergone a
revitalising make over, no longer the uniform of football hooligans but
a brand that's stepped back from prominent check and plaid and is
focusing on it's British roots.

Although Burberry is very much a British
brand its sunglasses are hand crafted by highly skilled craftsman in
Italy to bring you the highest quality of craftsmanship. And, although
this fashion darling has donned down it's plaid designs Burberry frames
are still instantly recognisable via the equestrian horse and depressed
lines situated on the arms which strengthen their existing appeal.
Sunglasses that are an array of modernistic
contemporary lines that reflect the brands eternal commitment to quality
and innovation.
Very luxurious and very British, constructed
for the very fashionable.
