Christian Dior
History
Born with a silver spoon in France's Granville in 1905, Christian
Dior spent most of his years growing up surrounded by architectural
museums and art galleries.
However, instead of taking up art Christian Dior studied
political science at the Ecole des Sciences Politiques.
Two years later after he'd graduated, he served the obligatory for 2
years in the French army. After he'd completed his duty he opened his
own art gallery and worked as an art dealer from 1928 to 1931.
Then, the USA faced its worst depression in history, and he felt it
in his personal life. In 1931 his beloved mother died of cancer, his
father's company was declared bankrupt, and then Christian Dior himself
caught tuberculosis.
It was during this tragic and sad period of his life that Christian
Dior's design window emerged. He started work as a fashion illustrator
before working as an assistant designer.
But in 1939, war descended upon Europe and Christian Dior was one of
many who were deployed by the French army. After the war was over, the
fashion brain child went back to designing and finally in 1974, he
launched the adore House of Dior.
The designers Corolle Line was thought upon as revolutionary by the
press and acquired the nickname The New Look.
After the manly depraved look of the war, his rounded shoulders,
cinched in waists and bell skirts created from luxurious fabrics were a
welcome breath of fresh air, earning him a well earned place in fashion
history.

Christian Dior's career as one of the worlds top fashion designers
spanned across a 10 year period, he died in 1957.
Despite his passing The House of Dior continues to live strong and
has remained world famous.
