Burberry Designer Glasses
Burberry has remained true to its roots and is arguably one of the hottest British designers to date. Reflecting creative chief Christopher Bailey’s injection of youth, Burberry has used a fistful of British stars in it ad campaigns that includes models Kate Moss, Agyness Deyn, Jourdan Dunn and Lily Donaldson, singer George Craig, and actress Emma Watson, who was named the face of Burberry's 2009 Fall/Winter campaign and the cover model for the 2010 Spring/Summer campaign. Most recently, girl of the moment Rosie Huntington-Whiteley featured in Burberry’s ‘new fragrance campaign, aptly named ‘Body’ marking the definite rise and rise of Burberry.
In 1856, a British institution was born. Burberry started out its journey as an outdoor wear and sporting goods store, becoming one of the most coveted designer brands in the world. Innovative as he was entrepreneurial, 21 year old Thomas Burberry was responsible for creating a water resistant fabric called gabardine that was used to create a multitude of Burberry outdoor gear. The company would continue to specialise in outerwear 100 years after it was founded. Following on from its success in practical outerwear, Burberry went on to create the famous Burberry check in the 1920s. Introduced as an inside lining to trench coats it was then that the check became a registered Burberry trademark.
Throughout the early 1900s Burberry became famous alongside explorers and travellers a like and today this influence can be recognised in must-have pieces such as the aviator with sherling-lining and of course, the trench coat. But it wasn’t until the 70s that the brand found itself a place amongst British fashion and its aspirational society. Growing as lifestyle brand, Burberry was taken over by young fresh designer, Christopher Bailey at the turn of the millennium, saving it from its brief fling with the chav culture and turning it about to develop and expand the brand, introducing Burberry Prorsum, Burberry London, Thomas Burberry and the newest Burberry recruit; Burberry Beauty.
