Calvin Klein Classics Designer Glasses
Boasting Calvin Klein’s iconic and understated stamp, the Calvin Klein Classics range is a homage to the brand’s identity and heritage. Sleek and simple silhouettes that are depicted from a range of eras including the 70s, 80s and 90s bring back iconic silhouettes and will inspire modern day wardrobes, however diverse. Calvin Klein Classics is timeless designs for both man and woman.
Born in 1948, Calvin Klein grew up in the Jewish neighbourhood of the Bronx and as a young boy, Ck from the block cut his fashion teeth by designing for numerous department stores in New York City.
But the Calvin Klein journey to stellar status really began in 1968 with a young Klein setting up a coat store in a New York Hotel. After a buyer from NYC department store, Bonwit Teller spotted his collection by chance and ordered $50,000 worth of Calvin Klein apparel.
By the beginning of the 70s, Calvin Klein had appeared on the cover of Vogue magazine and later on was dubbed ‘the supreme master of minimalism’ due to his clean, unfussy, but flawless lines. The early 80s saw the designer expand into underwear and homewear and probably one his most recognised apparel, Jeans. Within a week of launch the Calvin Klein jean had sold over 200,000 and by putting his name of the back pocket, Calvin Klein created a craze for branded fashion. And lest we forget Brook Shields’ controversial, barely legal ad, claiming that ‘nothing got between her and her jeans’. Setting tongues wagging, the revolutionary ad campaign proved that the designer also had a talent for marketing.
The early 90s saw the designer’s iconic underwear sky rocket in popularity with celebrities such as Kate Moss and Mark Wahlberg injecting a sexy young vibe to the brand and creating some of media’s most iconic images, whilst of course, wearing Calvin Klein underwear and therefore adding to the brands already iconic status, but at the same time expanding its reputation to global heights.
