Some of us get a pair of goggles because we need a pair of goggles. Others of us get a pair of goggles because we feel like they are what has been missing from our snow capped lives! The latter? Yes that’s me…and you I guess aren’t far off either!
When Oakley bought out the Crowbar a good few years ago, they were showing off and have only continued to thrive in the years to follow. These are the absolute Oakley daddy of all goggles! In a pair of goggles, you can’t really want much more than these deliver. Oakley have been developing goggles for way longer than sunnies, so if you’re an Oakley sunglass fan, you’ll be blown away by their goggles. They’re minimalist, smooth and sleek and come in a ma-hoo-ssive range of colours.
For me it’s the
White Oakley Text (02-638) which tickles my fancy. I wear a lot of neutral
colours, so with these I can look stylish on the slopes as well as uber cool! At
the opposite end of the spectrum is the
Canada (01-904), aptly named in red and white patterns.
The insanely lightweight O-Matter frame is one of the many elements to ensure all day comfort, to which Oakley have gone to extremes to guarantee. The mask area has been carefully constructed to match facial contours to ensure a precise close fit to the face! Not only this, the area is lined with triple layer fleece face foam which is ultra comfortable and cushioned, holding long lasting comfort and keeping sweat at bay.
When it comes to fit, the Crowbar holds the gold for the best helmet fit in
the range, with swing stretching straps to fit all!
Crowbar have been adapted to suit not only the slopes, but for Motor Cross
riders also, and for this reason, there are many within the range.
As with their sunnies, Oakley utilise Plutonite lenses with built in High Definition Optics (HDO) to ensure optical precision and clarity is guaranteed. The lens also filters all UV and is covered with an anti scratch coating for those rough days on the slopes! Trouble staying on your feet? Not to worry, the lenses have also been given the ANSI Z87.1 stamp of approval for protection on impact.
Fog build up in one of the main obstacles facing boarders, but Oakley as always have combated this by adding the dual lens and anti fog technology. Filters in the top of the mask ensure the warm air stay in and the cool air doesn’t mix.
Aside from all the standard Crowbar features, the signature series boast not only funky colours, but each have extra special features! Be inspired by the Oakley signature series and those patrons who we aspire to be.
Norweignan snowboarder Terje dominated the freestyle snowboarding in the
1990’s and is the winner of 5 European championships, Terje Haakonsen is a noted
winter sports professional and now has his own Crowbar signature series which he
sports with pride. And I think this ones awesome, white with black text and red
Oakley ‘O’ finish on the straps (02-872). Bag yourself one of these and board
like a pro.

This guy is virtually indestructible! American born Seth Morrison has
experienced a helicopter crash and avalanches and still lives on to tell the
tale! Best known for throwing back and side flips off cliffs, Seth is pretty
mental to say the least! If you wanna look cool, there cant be anyone better to
enhance your look than goggles enforced by this guy! A guy that laughs in the
face of death has created goggles so in keeping by designing a red, black and
white skull pattern (01-801). Love it! WARNING: Wearing these goggles does not
mean you can defy death!

Canadian freestyler JP founded Armada skis, a freestyle only skiing company
and from then on has been a admirable figure in the sport. JK lookie like JP has
a very distinctive personal unique style and has designed goggles to match this.
A huge fan of Tokyo, JP has taken inspiration from the city to give the White
Tokyo subway series which have funky tube lines and a yellow iridium mirrored
lens (02-875). Screaming pure attitude.
Choose from 2 lenses which both increase visual contrast to bring out detail and
improve depth perception. Persimmon takes you from low light to medium-bright
sun. Fire IRIDIUM® balances light on bright days and begs for sun-baked
altitude.

JP’s mate a fellow freestyler and co-founder of Armada skis, Tanner has also
bough out his version of the Crowbar, the Rasta Lion (01-802). This guy is at
the very top of his game and much admired for all his many achievements in the
field. Crazy freestyle tricks require the best vision imaginable so with this
signature series a wide extended lens open upwards and downwards view extends
his peripheral vision. Comfort is key, so this goggle offers a true anatomical
fit that uses strap connectors to balance pressure. These are truly something
special.

Danny is one of the most respected an influential boarders in the business
with noted achievement since his launch into the sport at only 12 years of age.
Danny boats one of the most successful contest streaks in snowboarding with 4 US
Open Championships, 7 Winter X Games medals and 2 Olympic silver medals! This
guys achievements are insane.
Honour this legend of the slopes by wearing the ‘Mitlitary Rain Camo,’ white and
black design with yellow icons (02-874). Enhanced detail and improved depth
perception are guaranteed with a choice of either persimmon or fire lens,
Danny’s personal favs!

33 year old Seth Morrison has been a freeskier since his school days. His ability to wow a crowd with what seems like blatant disregard for his own safety is really carefully executed stunts. Throwing side flips off massive cliffs and stomp landing from extreme heights are his signature moves.
Is this guy the invincible man? Well almost. Having survived avalanches and a helicopter crash, we can’t be anything but in awe of this magnificent athlete.
Design genius
The design of these goggles was inspired by Seths edgy personality and punk rock persona. His attitude for pushing fun and excitement and living on the edge has given these goggles an awesome trendy quirk which compliment his personality to a T.
Paying homage to his fearless death defying lifestyle, Oakley have perfectly orchestrated the skull images with the Oakley icon for a design match made in sports heaven. Re-enforcing this look, Oakley have coloured the mask and strap with blood Red and Black, to give that sinister eerie feel.
Comfort
When it comes to fit and comfort, Seth demands first rate luxury. A small mistake whilst performing on the slopes can prove disastrous. With this in mind, Oakley have manufactured a goggle to perform top rate with no room for error.
To ensure a comfort fit on and around the face, Oakley have constructed the mask to evenly distribute pressure. But what makes it all come together has to be the triple layer fleece foam which not only cushions your face from the mask and pressure, it also helps to wick away sweat from getting in your eyes! Strap connectors balance the anatomical fit to further enhance comfort.
Lenses
The extensive wrapped lens ensures Seth has a wide peripheral view, with all potential dangers clearly in sight. The lens is moulded from Oakley O-Matter which is lightweight, durable and virtually indestructible; all the key components of an extreme sport lens material. The ANSI Z87.1 standards lens also gives protection against impact; I’m sure this guy has had a few trips of falls in his time! High Definition Optics (HDO’s) ensure the absolute best clarity of vision, ensuring colours are in high definition and lines remain sharp. It goes without saying the lens filters all UV and the lens even comes with an anti fog coating, essential for those cold mountain ranges.
Use the G30 or Persimmon (01-848) lens for improved depth perception in low light or overcast skies. If its ultra sunny, go for the Black Iridium (01-801) which will reduce glare and improve colour recognition in bright light.
Once you purchase a pair of goggles, it is essential you know how to take car of them properly. To help you do this, Oakley have given you a microclear bag for storage and lens cleaning.
