Stockholm, Sweden. Home to some of the most magnificent slopes and stunning ski scenery in the world. Great for beginners and après ski-ers alike, the slopes and conditions will suit all!
Stockholm are a feminine looking range of goggles as have a bubble curvature
to the lens giving a voluptuous sensual female curved feel. They SCREAM pro!
Perfect for a feminine fit they boast smooth contours and a smaller tailored
lens and are an ever increasing in popularity range. Oakley have been at it for
3 decades, lets face it, they know what they’re doing in the land of goggles!
Its all about a tailored fit and Oakley know the Oakley woman yearns for a
product which will enhance her look and bring out her best features. They also
know we love to look after our body, from the nail varnish on our toes to the
softness against our skin, we’re moisturisers, preeners and puckers and love the
best in heath and beauty! And for that? Oakley have developed a triple layer of
polar fleece foam to bridge the gap between the goggle and your face…and ladies?
It’s soft. Super soft. Like a cushion against your skin. Not only does it
accomplish this on a comfort level, but the specially created fleece foam also
prevents any moisture (like sweat or snow) from obstructing your vision.
These are the goggles that have been missing in your ski outfit for this season! They’re comfy, bang on trend and they’re hot! We all know vision is of the upmost importance. Fundamentally Oakley have used High Definition Optics (HDO’s) (one of their trademarks!) which ensure the maximum sharp vision possible with optimum clarity. With these goggles, Oakley have also maximised the peripheral vision on offer by extending the field of vision from the top to very bottom of the lens and a wide curvature wrap.
It goes without saying that the goggles offer 100% UVA UVB filtering to protect our precious eyes from dreaded squinting and wrinkles! Not only this, the squinting can cause headaches and strain, not a good look. Not a pro on the piste? Not to worry, Oakley have ensured their lenses have full impact protection so wont crack or break if you have a fall. (Obviously this wouldn’t happen unless we have spotted the man of are dreams and are staging a damsel in distress attempt to be rescued!)
I’ve had a few shady incidents on the piste…fog in my eyes and obscured
obstacles (hills/other people!)! But with these goggles, I feel so safe. Nothing
can fog these beauties up. Technically it’s the dual vented feature which
ensures the correct air flow to absolute upmost fog elimination. The combination
of these plush features and the 3-D cranial geometry made from a lightweight
urethane frame, ensures the goggle maintains a comfortable fit on my face! These
are definitely goggles of pros!
Stockholm boast a feminine colour explosion! There are so many colour
combinations to choose from here, but one things for sure, form the subtle to
the out there, there is most definitely a colour to suit all! I’m a huge fan of
the
Pearl White 01-821. Other colour combos include pastel pinks, purples and
white.
If you aren’t sure what a polarised lens achieves, ill just give you a little insight. Polarised lenses block the horizontal light waves, which are what bounce of surfaces and into your eye to cause you to squint. Ultra dangerous on the slopes! And of all glare possible, snow reflects it the worst, up to 90% into our eyes! Now this is dangerous for 2 reasons, firstly the harmful rays can cause damage to our retinas and upset our vision and secondly if we are suddenly shocked by harsh glare, this may cause an accident to ourselves or others. Not good. Ever the saviour, Oakley have developed the polarised lens, which , unlike other polarised lenses will not haze or distort vision, but will simply work to eliminate the glare helping us see more clearly!
The polarised range is more subtle with only a few neutrally coloured
combinations. However, if you want the upmost protection and safety on the
slopes, id definitely go for the polarised. A classic is the
Jet Black 01-909 with a pink Iridium (another word for polarised) lens.
Gretchen Bleiler is not only a boarding pro and queen of the slopes, she’s GORGEOUS! And believe me, what every young boarder or skier strives to be. She’s super sleek, super sexy and dynamite on the slopes!
Finding her snow feet at the tender age of 11 and jump starting a revolution of female boarders, Gretchen has a range of competition wins under her belt. 3 times X Game Gold medallist and a pro n the half pipe, she has a thriving career already and is only 28!
Don a pair of Gretchen’s goggles and perhaps we’ll all absorb the snow
goddesses moves and flair! I’m loving the
Lilac and Gold Persimmon lens (02-866), a steal at only £60 from The
Sunglasses Shop!..smooth…
Ever purchased a pair of goggles before? If you haven’t then you probably have absolutely no idea what kinda money you should be forking out, and if you have, well a little more advice isn’t gonna hurt. Ok, so generally the price for a female pair of goggles retails at about £40-£70 , these should all give you a good longevity, so look to your goggles as an investment!
Normal lenses around £50 and polarised £70+. If you want to start with the best protection then I’d definitely go polarised, if not, the normal lens Stockholms are a perfect place to start or for a once off ski trip! They are new, protective, look great and come with all the top features a goggle can offer which will no doubt give you long term enjoyment!
