Founded in the thirties, Hugo Boss took its skills utilised in the uniforms of the First World War. Hugo Boss continued as a family business and forged a reputation as a purveyor of fine menswear. An innovative use of colour, fabric and approach to the silhouette created a new look and won international approval for the brand. An army of celebrity fans have since boosted the Hugo Boss prestige. The Hugo Boss suit in pastel was one of the defining looks of the eighties and appeared in Miami Vice. It was not until 1997 that Hugo Boss turned its attention to women's wear. Today children's wear, fragrance, watches and of course sunglasses also receive the Hugo Boss touch.
