Max Mara Sunglasses
Max Mara stands for Italian passion and tradition. It's story began in 1951 in Italy’s Reggio Emilia. Achille Maramotti followed in the family passions of his great grandmother who fashioned luxury couture lines in the 1850s. Out of character with the traditional Italian preference for labelling, Maramotti did not take centre stage by becoming the figure head of his design house. Achille wanted a name that was easy to pronounce by any tongue and one that did not focus on a particular individual. The name Max was homage to a stylish but perpetually drunk local count and it was combined with Mara from his family name. At 24 Achille pre-empted the industry's path towards mass industry. Max Mara designed off the peg fashions. At a time of hand crafted excellence his idea to manufacture lines was avant-garde. Maramotti persuaded his fabric suppliers to stock his designs. Maramotti's maverick streak paid off. Max Mara is today one of the most respected of the Italian fashion houses. Essential and precise, clean cuts and French-inspired designs in the tradition of Italian craftsmanship characterise the brand to this day. Max Mara is a classic sense of chic. Simplistic and minimal Max Mara designs are infinitely wantable and wearable.
Max Mara has expanded to include other division including Sportmax, Sportmax Code, Weekend Max Mara, Marella, Pennyblack, iBlues, the more youth led Max & Co. and Marina Rinaldi, the plus size label named in honour of his great grandmother.
Max Mara has employed an impressive array of designers over the years. Karl Lagerfeld, Jean-Charles De Castalbajac, Dominico Dolce and Steffano Gabbana and Narciso Rodriguez have all contributed anonymously as in line with the brands democratic creative philosophy. All who work on the Max Mara vision from Maramotti himself to the pattern cutters to the machinists are not denied credit; they are all Max Mara.
Max Mara began producing sunglasses in 1998. Like its classic ready to wear, the sunglasses have a sleek unfettered glamour that adds the perfect note of sophistication to any ensemble and occasion.
