Bono's Sight Declining

Bono's reasons for donning his designer sunglasses so frequently aren't purely fashion-focused. According to his friend Julian Lennon, the U2 frontman's eyesight is in decline.

Lennon, son of the late John Lennon, told the Irish Daily Star: "Bono actually has a condition with his eyes. I don't know the exact issue but the brightness of the sun hurts them and it's a deteriorating issue."

Back in 2005, Bono admitted to Rolling Stone magazine that he relies on his sunglasses to protect his eyes from excessive light. "[I have] very sensitive eyes to light. If somebody takes my photograph, I will see the flash for the rest of the day. My right eye swells right up."

Bono often dons EA's luxe frames...

Given that they form part of his iconic image, Bono's doesn't wear any old frame. His collection probably spans international time zones, with Emporio Armani being a notable go-to brand for the Irishman.

We'll be expecting to hear a bit more from U2 this year too. Literally. Drummer Larry Mullen has revealed that the band are working on a new album. Mullen stated in The Irish Sun that he expects it to be ready for release by September.
