Kevin Pearce is set for a sensational comeback to snowboarding at Breckenridge on 13th December, nearly two years after the Oakley pro suffered a life-threatening brain injury.

The horrific injury occurred back on 31st December 2009, when Pearce was training on the half-pipe at Mammoth Mountain in Utah. He fell awkwardly and was left fighting for his life in a coma as he began a long, tough struggle to recover from the traumatic brain injury.

At the time of the accident, Pearce was expected to make the US Winter Olympics team and was seemingly destined to become one of the greatest snowboarders to ever grace the mountain.

Oakley continued to sponsor Pearce throughout his recovery, and he will be joined by some of the world's top pros as well as family and friends for a return at Breckenridge. In addition to backing from Oakley, Pearce was supported by other snowboarders with the "I Ride for Kevin" campaign, which raised considerable awareness to the general public of his severe condition.

Pearce won't be able to perform to the level that made the star among the favourites to end fellow Oakley rider Shaun White's domination of competitive snowboarding, but the American will be able to at least ride again as he shapes up to recover his snowboarding career.
