Floor it with Oakley MotoGP Signature Series Dispatch

Jorge Lorenzo became the youngest ever rider to enter a World Championship race. Turning fifteen –the minimum age for Grand Prix participation- on the second day of practice for the 2002 Spanish race at Jerez, he made his debut onboard a Derbi at a track where he would have much success over the next few years.

Oakley MotoGP Signature Series Dispatch flies the colour of the MotoGP rider and his team, the two-time 250cc World Champion who earned the title of 2008 Rooke if the Year in motorcycle Grand Prix.

This special rendition carries the official MotoGP emblem on the interior stem and is adorned with metallic band detailing and interchangeable icons. An additional pair is included with the price of the frame - additional icons can be bought separately.

With a definite square style and clear cut frame, the new Dispatch isn’t messing about! It knows its style, it’s comfortable in it and it’s proud. I love the straight top edge which continues round to the stems. So cool, so timeless and now given the Oakley edge. Sweet as a nut.

Design heaven

The indentation running down the stem gives a deep set look and shadowing which adds to the enhanced dimensions. The O-Matter frame is kept thick and strongly defined all the way round, topped off by the socket in the brow bar accentuating the care and attention to detail put into the design. O-Matter is a great Oakley invention which is a pretty hard going material. It is lightweight, but durable and will sit comfortably on your face all day.

The defining feature has got to be the unique touch which has been painted onto the hinge or stripe. The Oakley ‘O’ no longer stands alone as is accompanied by this edgy yet exquisite detailing, namely on the Black and White frame making the Dispatch even more different than it already succeeds in being.

Technology

Oakley are renowned for their technological genius and we cant help but be impressed when they mix it up with sports fashion frames as well as just sports ones. Plutonite lenses ensure optical clarity and ANSI Z87.1 standards assure impact protection if you were to drop them.

If you are wearing these for a cycle and light exercise, that’ll be fine. Their anti smudge water repelling coating means the rain will just run off them and you don’t have to worry about dirty fingerprints. But if you are after a pair of sunglasses for strenuous sport I wouldn’t recommend them. Although they provide the upmost technological performance for eye safety, they don’t grip onto your face so shouldn’t be used in this circumstance. But they are built for a purpose and will definitely deliver on trend stakes.

The girls? They love them. I trialled the Polarised Black pair with design writing on the stems down the pub garden and they were a real head turner, the ladies love them! Nice, cheers Oakley!

High Definition Optics (HDO’s) help retain clarity of vision no matter what the conditions and this coupled with Plutonite material makes the lenses of the optimum quality.

Up there in the fashion stakes amongst so many top designers is the Wayfarer shape. Each designer to their own, everyone has their own take on the classic shape. And for Oakley it’s the Dispatch. Took a while coming, but I think its safe to say Oakley have pulled it off well. Is there nothing they cant do?!

If you’re in the UK then I know its cold, but there are still bright mornings and afternoons which beg for a new pair of sunnies. And if all else fails, you could just take a holiday?! If you’re abroad and its sunny, well firstly, we’re jealous! Nah, you guys have every excuse to snap up a pair and don’t forget its Christmas coming up, so you can treat your mates, or girls, treat the man in your life!

My pick
