Oakley Ladies Encounter

Kind of like a cross between a female Fives and Minute 2, this shape is quite revolutionary for women. For those of you with an active lifestyle however, it’s a godsend. The Fives is a pretty old, yet extremely popular frame which has just been phased out by Oakley and in its place, comes the female Encounter.

Maybe its a link to the supernatural? Maybe an insight into meeting the barer?! Either way, the name intrigues me. I want more information…

Style

Smooth sports contours encompass a very feminine oval shaped lens, continuing down the stems for an altogether comfort shape and fit. Go Bold.

In my opinion? They’re the perfect Tennis sunglasses. They are feminine without being too in your face sporty or too large. Unobotanium ear socks help keep them on my face without being too tight. I can move around the court and even if I work up a bit of a sweat, the socks will increase grip. Perfect.

When it comes to colour combos, we know this is an important factor for us ladies. For me its got to be the white frames with pink lenses. Sounds girlie, but the sporty style makes the sunglasses in keeping with my personal style; basically, an Oakley female. And its the pink 'O' accents on the stems which really make them for me, adding that extra cordinating touch. They also come in neutral tones so don’t worry if pinks not your thing. If it is though, the hot pink is burning with desire.

Flawless Optics

Before I had my first pair of designer sunglasses, I had absolutely no clue about the right frames or lenses to choose. Or what this meant for my face or my eyes. Now I’m clued up to the max and can tell you all about how these Encounter will perform. Firstly ill take comfort, surely one of the most essential initial factors. I know some people worry that playing sport in sunglasses will not only tire your face but restrict your view. This couldn’t be further form the truth. Oakley mould the Encounter out of O-Matter which is extremely lightweight and durable. Seconding this, the curvature on the wrap extends peripheral vision so you can see what’s going on from all angles. Some people prefer a visor so it prevents vision obstruction. However, I find these double lenses sufficient for the sports I like to play and for me, the break in the middle doesn’t get in the way of my eye line.

The lenses are made from Plutonite, an Oakley creation which promises to give you the ultimate in performance and visuals. High Definition Optics (HDO’s) clarify all colours through he sunglasses and make sure that contrast is heightened even if in changing weather conditions.

I don’t own a polarised pair. For my lifestyle, the standard lens is enough. But if you are planning on wearing these for outdoor sports in bright sunshine, you must go polarised. There simply is no comparison. The polarised lens will prevent glare going into your eyes, causing you to squint and obstructing your vision.

These are great all rounders and also great for sports beginners. They are easy wearing and not so statement as some of Oakleys others in the range.

Hate the player, not the game

Some swear by the best shoes, lucky skirt or racket that’s seen them through the years. But for me, it’s all about having the right sunglasses for the job. Without them, I’d not only be blinded, Id be uncomfortable and need to be at the top of my game all the time, well we all have a competitive side!

Me? I cant put mine down. They’re great day to day as well as sports sunnies. For a company named after a dog which started out life producing only bike grips and now supported by some of the world greatest athletes….Oakley have come a long way!
