Inmate, on the one hand this is conjuring up images of darkness, furtiveness and solitude….sunglasses that will shade you from the world. On the flip side I’m filled with the desire to break free from the shackles of societies norm and impound myself in these sunglasses!

No they are not aviator sunglasses. It is the Oakley Inmate

Fulfil your mysterious side and hide behind the warm grey lens of the Polished Black frame (05-632) and ensure yourself sharp vision and clarity with the High Definition Optics (HDO’s) as standard. You wouldn’t wanna mess with the beholder of these bad-boys.

I’m an absolute sucker for the Polished Gold/Dark Grey (05-630), they are the definition complete class! I can wear them when I’m off to a formal event, off to a work meeting, or when I take the Mrs for a nice lunch. These babies ensure I look ultra smart/professional and fashionable/flash…..the perfect combo! And a great accessory to complete any look.

The INMATE draws inspiration from the old CROSSHAIR, yet with a more squared edge. If you love sports style but like have a strong fashion influence too, then these take on classic large aviator shape will suit you to a T. As a large lens, the INMATE ensures complete coverage for your eyes, giving full protection.

On to the technicalities…..So, they look pretty heavy, however as they are cultivated from 5 metal compounds, fused to create durable C-5 lightweight frames which result in total all day comfort. Now these aren’t Oakleys which are specifically designed for sport, but if you want to wear your sunglasses out jogging, you don’t need to worry about loosing them or annoyingly slipping down your nose! To reinforce this, the frame also incorporates Oakleys signature 3 point fit, where it only touches the nose and temples. Unobotanium components increase grip as you sweat to ensure they stay on your face even through the most strenuous exercise. Plutonite lens material ensures full UV protection as standard.

Further protect your eyes with the Polarised option which comes in a polished black or silver frame. Not designed as sports glasses, but great for light sports, day wear and driving, the special lens will block the glare which bounces off tarmac, cars and water. Don these and you’ll also be ensured full haze elimination and distortion which comes from incorrectly made polarised lenses.

The Inmate is a smart looking sunglass so Oakley have gone to great lengths to ensure that the lenses and frames co-ordinate and compliment each other, which is why you will find a variety of colours and tones within the collection.

Five metal compounds are fused to create durable C-5, a lightweight alloy that unlocks comfort. The frame makes contact only at the nose bridge and temples, thanks to a 3 point fit that utilises unobtainium components to increase grip with perspiration. Oakley’s high definition optics offer unbelievable clarity while the contour lenses open up your peripheral view. Oakley’s plutonite lens material blocks 100 percent of all UVA, UVB and UVC, and even stops harmful blue light up to 400nm. When it comes to impact protection, the Inmate meets all ANSI Z80.3 Industrial Standards.

Oakley polarized lenses are engineered to block the blinding, eye-straining rays of glare that are magnified by flat surfaces such as snow, water and pavement. Oakley make polarised lenses with a liquid infusion process that bonds the lens material to the polarizing filter at the molecular level, eliminating the haze and distortion that sinks performance with ordinary polarised lenses. That’s how Oakley achieves an astounding polarisation efficiency of 99 percent with the best possible clarity and optical fidelity.
