Oakley Pit Boss. Without a doubt, the Godfather of all Oakley sunglasses! Commanding respect at every turn, the Boss of the Pit is the point of contact who directs the crew and demands orders. Is there anything these sunglasses cant do?! It seems not. The all singing all dancing Pit Boss have pulled out all the Oakley stops…and then some!

 

Pit Boss represents Oakley at its best. Not for the faint hearted, these in your face Oakleys mean serious business. Now I’m the kind of guy who loves creating that ‘wow’ factor and the Pit Boss most certainly deliver. As with Oakley though it’s not all for show, performance is top notch too.

If you’re an avid Oakley follower, or a lover of the best of the best sunglasses, these Pit Boss promise to deliver.

Wear them with pride

Slip on the new Pit Boss and they do become an extension of your face. The guaranteed Oakley ‘3 point fit’ makes sure the fundamentals of comfort are met as the sunglasses only touch your face in key areas, the temples and bridge of the nose. A 8.75 wrap or base curvature not only helps to protect my eyes from dust and dirt, it gives me full peripheral vision allowing me to see everything around me. Hugging my face perfectly, I can’t help but think this is what has been missing in my life! Ok so that’s a little dramatic, but these are dramatic sunglasses. Sharp boxed edges and slanted lines make for a definite eye catching style.

4 years in the making doesn’t warrant a half hearted frame, no, the Pit Boss have been engineered and re-engineered over years. Pursuit of perfection didn’t come easy! Blood, sweat and tears have gone into producing a pair of sunglasses which will be renowned the world over.

Technological genius

Lets talk lenses. It goes without saying the lenses will include High Definition Optics (HDO’s) coupled with XYZ Optics, which ensure the absolute best quality and unrivalled clarity of vision. Plutonite lens material is durable and has a 100% UV filter as standard.

One on the main reasons people choose not to wear sunglasses is because they believe their vision will be marred which may well be true with low quality lenses, but not with these. It goes without saying that the lenses are also HD Polarised which filter 99% of glare and guarantees zero distortion of haze. I very much doubt you are unaware of the characteristics of a polarised lens and I don’t mean to insult your intelligence, but I’ll just run through it for the sake of argument.

 A polarised lens acts like a rotated venetian blind, filtering out the horizontal light waves which cause glare that makes you squint. Therefore this is a far superior quality of lens which prevents your eyes aching and obstructing your vision. The back of the lens has an anti-reflective coating for further glare protection. The front of the lenses are covered with an Iridium film which balances light transmission and further enhances glare protection.

To prevent dirt dust and water obstruction your vision, Oakley have made the lenses Hydrophobic and Oleophobic. To you and me? They repel rain, sun cream and fingerprints, without leaving an unsightly smudge….not a good look for our polished image!

More technology….

Not that you plan on dropping these babies after spending this amount of money on them, but if you do, at least you can rest assured that it wont be the end! The lens has a scratch resistant layer to prevent marks and the lightweight O-matter frame is stress resistant. Oakley also utilise Hexalobular bolts to secure the lenses in place even at high velocity and impact. In short, you will have to exert considerable pressure to seriously damage them.

A Computer Numeric Controlled machine provides the science behind the precise genius of the frames. The machinery allows the frame to be chiselled with a 0.002 inch precision, to make these the best of the best.

Lets talk about colour

When Oakley created the Pit Boss, they weren’t going to settle for your average colour, cut or design. When it comes to colour, they have created 3 unique lens and frame colour combos, allowing your own personal style choice. Matte Rootbeer and Bronze frames with Tungsten Iridium Polarised (03-30) lenses offer a level of suave sophistication. Or my personal favourite; the Matte Black and shimmering Titanium frame absolutely spills class (03-303) and with Black Iridium Polarised lenses, you can’t go wrong.

Embossed with metal icons on the stem to give that Oakley touch and enhance the quality 2 fold, makes these sunglasses a must have for you sunglass enthusiasts.

Presented in a custom display box and enclosed in an Oakley soft bag means you can store your investment safely for years.

Any downfalls?

Not really. I would advise the Tungsten Brown are lighter in reality than they appear on the picture.  Aside from this there is the obvious cost of the sunglasses which is higher than your average Oakley, but these aren’t your average Oakley and no where near. 4 years in the making and the most luxurious of materials makes for a first class frame.
