Cool Campaign

Dakota Johnson and Thomas Donell have both been confirmed as the star of the next Oliver Peoples campaign.

As the daughter of Melanie Griffith, Dakota (Johnson) is used to posing for the camera. She also appears in The Social Network, not to mention upcoming films 5 Year Engagement, 21 Jump Street and Goats.

‘I am so honoured to be working with such an amazing group of people on a campaign that represents both the art and intellect of the Oliver Peoples brand. I couldn't be happier to be a part of this,’ says Dakota.

Star of Prom and Fun Size, Thomas (Donell) is also a natural on camera. He also features in Tim Burton’s Dark Shadows, which will begin filming later on this year.

The campaign was shot by photographer Lisa Eisner, who began her career as a fashion editor at Mademoiselle and American Vogue, where she worked with leading fashion photography. She later decided to focus on photography and has since published two books of her own work.

‘We were looking to capture the electricity and excitement of youthful romance. It is the moment in ones life – or that feeling one has – when something special starts to blossom with another person. Maybe it’s not the person who you imagined it would be. There is a carefree feeling that is associated with this kind of lust. It is certain happiness,’ says Eisner.

‘The characters represent opposite lifestyles – ‘blue blood’ versus ‘bohemian’ – who cannot deny an attraction to each other. They meet at school... and there the inspiration lies. It's a bit 'Good Bye Columbus' and 'Last Picture Show', with a dash of 'Paper Chase'.
