SAFETY AND STRENGTH:
In 1962, long before safety laws were imposed all over the world, Ray-Ban was already testing its lenses for wear and impact resistance.
THE DROP BALL TEST:
Ray-Ban glass and plastic lenses are extremely strong and resistant, in part as a result of the Drop Ball Test that they undergo. The comparative test, performed with Ray-Ban lenses and standard lenses, consists of dropping a 1.6-mm-diameter steel ball on the lenses from a height of approximately 1.3 m. Only the ones that withstand the impact are selected by Ray-Ban.
G-15®
The most well-known and popular Ray-Ban lenses are made of the highest quality glass. Easily recognisable by their green colour, they absorb 85% of visible light, guaranteeing 100% protection from UV rays. They are called “natural vision” lenses since they transmit colours as they truly are, without altering them.
B-15®
Originally technical lenses for military use, they offer a high level of clarity, comfort and protection. B15® lenses also absorb 85% of visible light and guarantee 100% protection from UVB rays. They block blue light to allow for greater clarity and remarkable colour contrast.
G-31® Silver Mirror
The grey mirrored lenses, fully protective and completely comfortable in glaring light conditions, absorb 88% of visible light.
LIGHT ADAPTIVE®
Like their name suggests, these lenses change according to the brightness of the surrounding environment, adapting better than the human iris to changing light conditions. From a dim glow to full light, from dusk to a brightly lit room, Light Adaptive lenses change colour and pamper our eyes. They can therefore be worn in all conditions for convenient relaxation and protection.
