Serengeti Dante Polarised 7113

February 2008 was a great month for testing the Serengeti Dante 7113,
with such varied weather I got to test the sunglasses out in a number of
conditions. So what makes Serengeti sunglasses so special? They talk
about a lot of technology but what are they actually like in the real
world and not just in a laboratory?
Winter road test
I tested these out on over 400 miles of driving in bright winter sun
as well as some of our typical British winter weather and I have got to
admit they are amazing! You only realise how good they are when you try
taking them off (my advice is don’t). With the sun low in the sky and
glare at a high intensity a series of long drive made a great test. The
polarised technology in the lenses combined with Serengeti’s patented
blue light blocking technology and photochromatic lenses meant that my
eyes were exceptionally comfortable for all my journeys. And it’s not
just when the sun’s out that you realise just how good these sunglasses
are, it’s when you hit patches of fog or it starts to rain, typically I
would expect to have to remove my sunglasses but the Dantes actually
improved my visibility enhancing colours, especially the red in brake
lights.
Out in town the Dantes also performed exceptionally well, the light
reflected from buildings and puddles all but disappears and you can see
clearly never having to squint even when sunlight is particularly
intense.
Comfort
Although the glass lenses are quite heavy, it is surprising just how
quickly you become used to these sunglasses. Comfortable nose pads and
Serengeti’s patented S-Flex technology in the arms mean the fit is
impressive and I have never worn a pair of sunglasses that are so
comfortable and so packed with technology. The clarity of the lenses
means that vision is perfect, absolutely no distortion means that you
can see the world how it really is. In fact, these lenses make the world
look even better!
Style
Maybe not to everyone’s taste but they, like a lot of the Serengeti
collection, have a classic look and certainly are not unpleasant to look
at or wear. They are not fashion sunglasses, they are REAL sunglasses.
Overall
The Serengeti Dante sunglasses are amazing, the polarised drivers
lens on the 7113 does an amazing job and cannot be beaten. Whatever the
weather these sunglasses perform the job they say they do and ensure
that your eyes are protected and comfortable. These sunglasses are the
perfect driving sunglasses yet wouldn’t look out of place on the beach.
