End of The Rod
Ivan Rodriguez Torres. Pudge. I-Rod. Whatever you may call him, he's widely recognised as the greatest catcher in baseball history. On Monday 23rd April, he pulled the curtain down on a stellar career that's seen him win everything there is to win.
During his glittering Major League Baseball career, Oakley star Rodriguez represented six different teams over 21 years. The majority of his career behind the plate was spent playing for Texas Rangers. So, an emotional Rodriguez decided to say a fond farewell to the Rangers fans prior to their clash with New York Yankees. He was met with universal cheers, an end befitting the legendary Puerto Rican.
In total, Rodriguez went on to play a record 2,427 games for the Texas Rangers, New York Yankees, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Houston Astros and Washington Nationals. He spent two spells with the Rangers, having made his MLB debut for them back in 1991.

Rodriguez knew what eyewear worked for him too. That's why he was seen so often wearing his regular Oakley Radar sunglasses. Their Plutonite lenses with Iridium coating came in handy when he had to be the glare of the floodlights.
A quick flick through the stats tells the remarkable tale of one of the greatest MLB players ever. He played in 14 All-Star games and won 13 Golden Gloves. His stellar 1999 season saw him hit 35 home runs, 113 runs batted in, 25 steals and a .332 batting average. This made a huge difference in his career batting average of .296 and 2,844 hits. Not bad, eh.
