Alistair Cook, Bio

Born: 25th December, 1984

Country: England

County: Essex

While touring in the West Indies with the ECB National Academy, Cook was called up to the England national team in India as a last-minute replacement for Marcus Trescothick and debuted with a century.

He came through the Essex Academy, representing Essex at all age levels and made his first-class debut in 2003, a summer when he scored 239 runs in six innings at an average of 47.

In 2003 he played for England Under-19s against South Africa and he was captain for the Under-19 World Cup in 2004. Cook took his side to the semi-finals, made back-to-back unbeaten hundreds – 108 each time – and opened the batting during that tournament.
