Sarah Hammer, Bio
Born: 18th August 1983
Home: Temecula, CA, USA
Sarah was eight when her father introduced her to cycling. Her first junior title came four years later in 1995. Eleven years later, and twenty national titles later, Sarah put an end to American gold medal drought by taking the win and rainbow World Championship jersey in Bordeaux, France and was selected for the Olympic team, finishing fifth overall in Beijing, 2008.
It almost never happened though. Burned out from the rigors of competitive cycling, Sarah gave up the sport after just two years as an elite rider. She sold most of her equipment, went to college and had various odd jobs. It all changed during the Athens Olympics of 2004. Sarah was inspired to make a comeback after watching her teammates and competitors race and later that year, she was back on the bike. The rest is just a list of achievements.
