Mike Metzger, Bio.
Born: 19th November 1975
Home: Menifee, California
"The Godfather of Freestyle", FMX hero Mike Metzger has an army of fans. He seemingly always has. And that following got considerably larger in 2006 when Metzger landed a backflip over the famous fountains outside Cesar's Palace in Las Vegas.
Aside from being the only person ever to backflip those fountains, Metzger has also dominated contests. Take the X-Games in 2002 for example. "Metz" turns up and throws down a backflip. But this wasn't enough. He then decides to it again in the very same sequence, taking the FMX gold medal and the "Best Trick" title. His pioneering spirit also saw him event tricks like the "heel clicker" and the "McMetz".
In 2011, Metzger sustained a horrific injury whilst riding at the Sony Ericsson FMX Jam in Bratislava. He suffered broken vertebrae in his back and neck, injured both collarbones, lacerated his kidney and suffered liver complications. Thankfully, he made a full recovery and is looking to get back to his best soon.
