Winter X-Games 2011 Snowboard Highlights

Winter X-Games 2011 provided some memorable moments in snow sports, here's the best of the best...

When Torstein Horgmo threw down the triple cork, becoming the first ever rider to land the mind-boggling trick in a competition it was simply a matter of who would finish second. Horgmo stunned everyone in Aspen with his Men's Big Air victory and left second-placed team-mate Seb Toutant and Dragon-sponsored rider Sage Kostenburg trailing in his wake.

This year's event also saw a "Best Method" contest, which saw riders pull a method trick off the Big Air ramp in a bid to impress audience voters. Scotty Lago proved to be the method master, winning the gold medal, and Louis-Felix Paradis and Simon Chamberlain finish second and third respectively.

Kelly Clark destroyed the competition to walk away with a gold medal in the Women's SuperPipe contest. Clark sealed her first Winter X-Games gold since 2006 in style by becoming the first woman to land a 1080 spin in a competition. Rival Kaitlyn Farrington won the silver medal and Elena Hight won the bronze.

Possibly the most eagerly anticipated event of the entire Winter X-Games was the Men's SuperPipe final, which saw action sports legend Shaun White have to battle with Scotty Lago for supremacy. Despite falling behind Lago in the first run, a resurgent White rallying to overtake him in the second run to snatch the win. Lago had to make do with second place, ahead of third-placed Louie Vito.

The Women's Slopestyle event proved to be a fierce duel between Jenny Jones and Enni Rukajarvi. Jones was the obvious favourite for the gold, but clearly no one handed Rukajarvi the script as she stole victory. Jones took second, and star Jamie Anderson finished third.

Seb Toutant followed up his silver medal in the Big Air contest with an emphatic win in the Men's Slopestyle contest. As the favourite, Toutant duly stepped up and delivered, denying Mark McMorris and Tyler Flanagan, who sealed second and third respectively. Both McMorris and Flanagan were just seventeen years-old, but they shocked the competition to make the podium.

The Men's Snowboard X saw a huge upset as veteran Nick Baumgartner breezed past the competition to take the title. Favourite Nate Holland finished a distant third as Kevin Hill grabbed second place. The Women's Snowboard X finished with Lindsey Jacobellis taking victory ahead of Callan Chythlook-Sifsof and Debroah Anthonioz.
