It is not a legal requirement to wear a visor or goggles, but for
those who do, then the law does apply.
Remember that
a 50% tint is the darkest you're allowed by law. The visor will still be
marked for daylight use and cannot be worn in the dark. Dark and mirrored
visors are illegal, so you should wear sunglasses underneath your visor
instead.
We have had a number of requests for assistance with sunglasses that
can be worn inside motorcycle helmets and constantly have motorcyclists
coming into the shop requesting suitable sunglasses for this matter.
After careful discussions with a number of motorcyclists we have come
to recommend plastic/acetate sunglasses as opposed to metal sunglasses,
and also make sure that the sunglasses do not have any
rubber/thermo-rubber on the arms as this hinders the putting on/removal
process.
Also a majority of motorcyclists tend to prefer polarised sunglasses
(see the polarised sunglasses page
for more information) as they remove glare from the road. If polarised
lenses are not suitable, as some wearers may have difficulties reading
their dials, then a mirrored effect such as Iridium lenses on Oakley
sunglasses, will significantly reduce glare without the polarising
effect.
Key features we find helpful to lookout for are:
Skull fit (straight) arms as these make putting on and taking off
sunglasses much easier whilst wearing your helmet
Polarised lenses (where possible)
Plastic/acetate frames
Below we have put links to motorcyclists favourites in our shop (if
you're a motorcyclist and have found a different model ideal then please
contact us and we will get them added to the list
below).

These are the most popular models. Other brands that offer suitable
models are Killer Loop,
Ray-Ban, and
Prada Sport.
If you would prefer metal frames, then we recommend
Serengeti sunglasses. The most
popular model (although metal and featuring thermo-rubber) has been the
Serengeti Vedi. The lenses are sculpted to offer maximum protection even
to your peripheral vision.
Our latest 2009 sunglasses from the divine
Roberto Cavalli resemble rock, glamour, colour and erotica. The
Crisocolla is the ultimate luxury accessory, the temples feature a diamante
emblem and ring that links to the rest of the arm, available in
gradient brown,
gold and
gradient grey. Crisocolla also comes in
silver but unlike the other colours it features an animal print design on
the arm.
