Eye protectionEye protection is particularly important when spending time in the sun and specialists now even recommend sunglasses for young children.Parents tend to buy cheaper sunglasses for their children as the glasses are often lost or broken. This can be counterproductive, as poor-quality sunglasses do not protect effectively against the sun's damaging UV rays. Good-quality glasses with protective UV lenses can reduce the risk of cataract formation and retinal degeneration later in life, and many ranges now include models specially designed for children. All of our sunglasses provide full protection against the suns rays, so you can buy the cheaper non-branded sunglasses or the higher end designer glasses. Cheaper sunglasses are fine for children as long as they are 100% UV resistant to UV 400 standards. Encourage children to wear the sunglasses, be sure to buy them a style they want to wear and choose themselves. Make certain that they are 100% UV resistant (all of our sunglasses are). Sunglasses should fit properly. Ill-fitting ones are uncomfortable and make children less likely to wear them. Remember that mirror-coated or highly reflective sunglasses will reflect more sun onto the upper cheek and nose, so be certain to apply a high-factor sunscreen liberally to those areas. |
