ANSIANSI – this is the American National Standards Institute which sets voluntary requirements concerning UV protection that sunglasses should meet. The ANSI is a private, non-profit making institute which aims to implement standards of health and safety for consumers. This includes certain requirements for sunglasses such as the amount of UV protection they should provide, and also that non-prescription sunglasses should not alter the wearer’s vision in terms of distortion of size.
