The juicily oversized frames with a glossy finish are still extremely in vogue yet a squashed, slightly angular shape gives it an individual and quirky appearance. The geometric print on the temple hoop is fun and classically Pucci. If you want a celeb-sized sunglass for the summer, you've found your match! Emilio Pucci's designs are inspired by the natural landscapes of the Mediterranean, hence the vibrant colours, bold swirls reminiscent of sea and sky, flora and fauna. Translucency and crystallised effects often occur, representative of the clear waters and bright sunshine and combinations of materials, textures and finishes are indicative of the rich and varied environment in that beautiful part of the world. Pucci Sunglasses Collection Emilio Pucci is the God of multi-coloured, contrasting print and the visionary behind some of the most coveted designs to have ever featured in Vogue. Born in 1914 to one of Florence's oldest and most noble families, Marchese Emilio Pucci di Barsento was the son of a wealthy aristocrat. He was raised with a silver spoon and brought up in lavish luxury and was an enthusiastic skier and scholar. After earning his PHD in political science, Emilio Pucci signed up to the Italian Olympic ski team. He was rewarded with a skiing scholarship the following year and attended university in the United States, it was here that he first began designing sportswear for his ski team. During the World War Emilio Pucci served as a pilot for the Italian Air Force, but after several years service the aspiring designer was forced to return to his native Italy after health concerns prevented him from flying. Emilio Pucci's lucky break came in the late 1940s when he was spotted by a Harper's Bazaar reporter, Toni Frissel, on the slopes of St Moritz wearing a self designed ski outfit. He was invited by the magazine's editor to create some ski pieces for a fashion editorial, he willingly obliged and the pieces were later featured in a 1948 edition of Harper's Bazaar. In 1949, Emilio Pucci set up a boutique in Capri which was later became home to the designers debut line of couture threads, an innovative assortment of bold colourful prints on lightweight fabrics. The house of Emilio Pucci saw new heights during the 1950s and the brand's vision of beauty and light simultaneously knocked dark, dull colours and heavy fabrics straight out of fashion, acquiring an unprecedented following of hedonistic men and women in the process, such as Marilyn Munroe and Jacquelyn Kennedy. Sadly, in the early 1990s, the Florence born designer passed away and his shoes were quickly filled by his daughter, Laudomia Pucci, who has since taken a back seat as Image Director.
